📞 WhatsApp Call-to-Action Buttons in Campaign and Template Editor

Introduction

WhatsApp Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons allow hoteliers to add interactive elements to their WhatsApp message templates. These buttons enable guests to take immediate action—such as calling the hotel or opening a webpage—directly from the message. CTA buttons can enhance guest engagement and streamline interactions within campaigns and automations.

🧪 CTA buttons are currently a beta feature and must be enabled manually. Please contact Bookboost Support to activate this functionality.

Main Concept or Feature Explanation

Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons are interactive elements that can be added to WhatsApp templates only. They appear within message templates and allow recipients to respond with a single tap. CTA buttons are available in:

  • The Campaign Editor for both Journeys and Broadcasts
  • The Message Template Editor
⚠️ CTA buttons are not supported in Omnichannel templates or non-WhatsApp messages.

Use Cases

  • 📲 Add a "Call Now" button to allow guests to contact the front desk immediately.
  • 🌐 Include a "Visit Website" button linking to a booking engine or menu.
  • ✅ Use Quick Reply buttons to let guests confirm their check-in time or RSVP to events.

Configuration and Setup

To add CTA buttons to your WhatsApp message templates, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Campaign Editor or Message Template Editor.
  1. Scroll to the Actions section, located between the message body and the “Digital Reception”/“Token” buttons.
  1. Click the ‘+’ button next to Actions.
  1. From the dropdown:
      • Select the CTA button type:
        • Quick Reply
        • Phone
        • Link
      • Enter the button label text.
      • Provide a phone number (for Phone) or a URL (for Link), if required.

✏️ To edit a button, click the text or the three dots menu.

❌ To remove a button, click the ‘x’ icon next to it.


CTA Button Types

There are three supported types of CTA buttons:

  • Quick Reply
    • Sends a predefined text reply when tapped.
  • Phone
    • Opens the guest’s phone app with a preset number when tapped.
    • Example: "Call Front Desk" → +123456789

Rules and Requirements

  1. 🚫 No emojis or special characters are allowed in button text.
  1. 🧾 Button text must be 25 characters or fewer.
  1. 🔐 Tokens (e.g., {{guest_name}}) are not allowed in buttons.
  1. ☎️ Phone numbers must be valid and properly formatted (+ country code).
