Tips on How to Avoid Delays in Mobile App Notifications

We would like to share with you a list of actions that you can perform to ensure that the delays in the notifications are not coming from any Android settings.

1. Deactivate Adaptive Battery

Adaptive Battery is a function available on Android devices, designed to monitor your app usage and permit only your frequently accessed apps to operate in the background. Although this functionality enhances your Android's battery performance, it might lead to notification delays. To disable this feature, follow these steps:

1. Launch the Settings app and proceed to Battery and device care.

2. Go to Battery and then tap on More battery settings.

3. Finally, turn off the Adaptive battery option.

2. Turn Off Battery & Data Saver Features

Your phone's battery-saver function restricts the background activities of apps, which can result in apps not fetching new data when inactive. To prevent this issue, it's recommended to deactivate the battery saver on your device.

Follow these steps:

1. Launch the Settings app and navigate to Battery and device care.

2. Within the Battery section, switch off the Power saving option.

Likewise, activating a data saver can restrict apps from using your phone's internet connection in the background. This could cause a delay in notifications for apps that rely on internet connectivity, such as the Bookboost mobile app. Therefore, it's also advisable to turn off the data saver mode.

Follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings menu and access Connections > Data Usage.

2. Tap on Data Saver and disable it from the subsequent menu.

3. Turn Off Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode

Wi-Fi power saving mode assesses your historical data usage patterns. When activated, your device might occasionally disconnect from Wi-Fi to conserve power, leading to potential delays in notification delivery. Follow these steps to disable it:

1. Open the Settings app on your mobile device and go to Connections > Wi-Fi.

2. Tap the three-dot menu icon located in the upper right corner and choose Advanced.

3. Within the Intelligent Wi-Fi section, toggle off the switch adjacent to Wi-Fi power-saving mode.

4. Deactivate Adaptive Notifications

Adaptive Notification is a function that employs artificial intelligence to assess and arrange your notifications according to their significance. While this feature offers convenience, it has been associated with delays in Android notifications. For this reason, it's advisable to disable it.

Follow these steps:

1. Launch the Settings app and navigate to Apps & notifications > Special app access.

2. Select Adaptive Notifications and choose the "None" option.

5. Deactivate Do Not Disturb Mode

You have the option to set up an automatic schedule for the Do Not Disturb mode on your device. When this mode activates, all alerts on your Android device are muted, which can create the perception of delayed notifications.

To disable the Do Not Disturb mode, follow these instructions:

1. Launch the Settings app and go to Notifications > Do not disturb.

2. Ensure that the Do Not Disturb mode is turned off and that it is not set to activate on a schedule.

6. Turn Off Sleeping Apps (Exclusive to Samsung Phones)

For Samsung Galaxy devices, apps can be put to sleep, preventing them from utilizing resources in the background. Nonetheless, this action also hinders these apps from delivering notifications unless manually accessed.

To ensure uninterrupted notifications, follow these guidelines to disable the sleeping apps feature:

1. Access the Settings app and proceed to Battery and device care > Battery.

2. Select Background usage limits and switch off the Put unused apps to Sleep feature.

7. Remove Data Usage Restrictions for Apps

To grant unrestricted data usage to an app, follow these instructions:

1. Press and hold the app icon and select the information icon from the ensuing menu.

2. Navigate to Mobile data, then activate the toggles adjacent to Allow background data usage and Allow data usage while Data Saver is on.

8. Delete App Cache

If the problem persists despite enabling unrestricted data usage, clear the accumulated cache data of the app.

1. Press and hold the app's icon, then select the information icon from the appearing menu.

2. Access Storage and tap Clear cache at the bottom.
